Lower Loup NRD Chemigation Fees Increase

The fee to chemigate in the Lower Loup Natural Resources District has increased from $50 to $100 following a vote by the NRD’s Board of Directors.  The unanimous decision on the fee increase came following a public hearing held during the Board of Directors meeting on January 27.

NRD General Manager Russell Callan said the fee increase was necessary due to cover the costs of inspecting chemigation sites.  He said the fees for permit renewals remained at $30.

Under the Nebraska Chemigation Act, each site must be inspected by an NRD technician before the practice can commence.  Chemigation is the process of applying pesticides or fertilizer through an irrigation system.

Callan said those with questions should contact the Lower Loup NRD at (308) 728-3221.  Chemigation permit application forms are available here..  The updated rule can be found in the NRD's Groundwater Management Rules and Regulations here..
