Spring static water level readings that the Lower Loup NRD staff has collected twice annually since 1975 have indicated that Water Quantity Management Area 19 has become an area of concern regarding groundwater depletions and ongoing drought impacts.
This is the area of the Lower Loup NRD that includes the portion of Howard County south of the Middle Loup River, as well as the portions of Howard, Merrick, and Nance counties south and east of the Middle Loup and North Loup confluence east to south of the Loup River near Fullerton.
The meetings are planned at the Palmer Fire Hall at 502 Stanwick Street in Palmer from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on November 19, and the St. Paul Civic Center at 423 Howard Avenue in St. Paul from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on December 3. LLNRD rule change requirements including flow meters on all high-capacity wells, and available cost-share, will be discussed.
Impacted/interested operator/landowners should plan to attend. Direct questions to the Lower Loup NRD, (308) 728-3221.
