Sargent, Neb. (Sept. 6, 2024) – The Lower Loup Natural Resources District (LLNRD) will host a public open house meeting on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2024, to discuss proposed flood resiliency projects within the City of Sargent. The meeting will be held at the Sargent Community Building, 314 W Main Street, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. No formal presentation is planned, and residents can stop by the meeting as they are available.
LLNRD and City of Sargent have identified conceptual improvements to reduce street and structural flooding within the City of Sargent as part of the Sargent Flood Resiliency Project. Potential improvements include urban culvert improvements and construction of an overflow channel to divert excess runoff around town. This project will minimize flood damage and is funded by LLNRD, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Nebraska Department of Natural Resources (NeDNR), and the City of Sargent.
The community is encouraged to attend the project open house on Thursday, Sept. 19 between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. to learn more about the Flood Resiliency Project and provide feedback. Staff from LLNRD and JEO will be available at the open house to answer questions and provide information on the project.
For more information on the open house and the Sargent Flood Resiliency Project, please contact Kevin Gustafson, LLNRD district engineer, at 308-728-3221.
