LLNRD Hosts 2024 Central Region Envirothon

The Lower Loup Natural Resources District and Central Platte Natural Resources District hosted the Central Region Envirothon competition at Central Community College in Columbus on February 26th.  Eight teams from four schools competed in the event, Loup City had four teams, St. Paul had two teams, and Aurora and Humphrey Public Schools each had one.

Each team completed tests in aquatics, forestry, range, soils, wildlife, policy, and a special topic. The special topic for this year was "Renewable Energy for a Sustainable Future'. St. Paul Team 1 took home the crown of Central Region champions this year, their reward is an automatic bid to the state Envirothon competition at Ponca State Park on April 24th. Wild Card qualifiers for state will be determined after the final regional Envirothon is held on March 7th.
